5 /5 Rose-Anne M: What a great find. Went for a walk and read the information about the Zig Zag railway and quarry. It was a lovely day to walk and explore nature.

5 /5 McDonald Gordon “Hawkesbury”: This short walk through Berowra Valley Regional Park is perfect for a city breather. Berowra Valley Regional Park is right next door to Berowra Valley National Park. A level path takes you down to Zig-Zag Creek, over a bridge and up to the high walls and towering forest of the old railway quarry, an attractive natural amphitheatre of sandstone. You’ll see fern trees, grass trees, coachwood and a variety of tall eucalypts while hearing the joyful call of kookaburras. Interpretive signs tell the history of the historic Zig-Zag railway that used to pass through here. Take a seat on the old railway sleepers and enjoy the peace and beauty of the bush before returning the way you came.

1 /5 Anya Shcherban: I understand that us city folk might not always be up for a three day hiking trail up mountains and such, but come on! This trail was hardly even 10 steps. By the time I opened my water bottle for a sip the trail was over. It’s basically a concrete path between a few houses that just leads to roads. If you live in the area, it’s probably fine for a roam, but if you’re coming up all the way here for a visit, go elsewhere, there are much better trails out there that are also dog friendly.

5 /5 Lyle Stone: Lovely walking path through the bush with interesting scenery and historical information to read. Seems to be mostly concreted, at least from the Bellamy St end to the Zig Zag Bridge. Up to this point would be doable with a stroller and easy for kids and those unsteady on their feet. This component would likely also be wheelchair accessible, though over the bridge looks quite steep. There was one picnic table I saw, hidden in the bush close to the track, though there is a big step to get into it. A fair few parking spots at the Bellamy St end. Decent direction signage along the path, and access to other parts of the walk which are interesting (running water streams and ponds) but much less accessible.
