Cathedral Rock track - Ebor (NSW)

5 /5 Peter Sanders: The sub-alpine walk was great with a mix of terrains, vegetation and fantastic rock structures. A mildly challenging climb to the summit, climbing over, through and between large boulders and a small length of chain to assist the last few metres. Worth the effort though. The dirt road in made for a cautious drive in from the main road, especially being in a low sitting car. Looking forward to doing it again.

5 /5 Helen Di Domenico: My two daughters (11 and 8), husband and I did the walk around Cathedral Rock, but didnt walk the 500m to the top of the rock. My ankle had been playing up so we didnt want to risk doing more damage to it. There is always next time! The track around the rock was well maintained and well defined thanks to the National Park team. It took us exactly 2hrs to complete this loop track with a couple of short stops along the way to give the kids a break. This is such a beautiful national park - the rocks are big round boulders which makes interesting viewing aa you walk around. My oldest daughter also saw a large grey kangaroo during the walk. The sun was starting to go down and we had about 1hr of daylight left. Come back? Most definitely - I want to do the last bit to the top of the rocks! Have to wait until we go on another holiday in the area to do so though as we dont live locally.

5 /5 McDonald Gordon “Hawkesbury”: Hike up Cathedral Rock to sit on a natural throne – perched on 200m of stacked boulders – and survey your kingdom. The nearby Round Mountain is the highest point of the New England Tablelands, although only by a royal whisker at 1584m. The track is most easily accessed from Barokee campground. Follow the circuit clockwise and hike through sub-alpine woodland to the summit turnoff. Rock-hopping is the scientific term for what you’ll be doing for much of the next 400m as you clamber over boulders and straddle crevices. On the way back, keep following the circuit around through a protected valley of manna gums. For the intrepid, pack headlamps and set out to Cathedral Rock at sunrise or sunset. Remember to take your camera, a raincoat, warm clothes, and a flask of coffee to reward yourself with for when you reach the top.
