Hotham Alpine Resort - NSW

Richard Mullen This was our first snow trip and it definitely didnt disappoint. We live in Newcastle NSW and we have 3 kids aged 7,8,& 10. We visited in the last week of July. The kids did 2 days of ski lessons and 2 days of free skiing at Big D. They loved every minute and they wouldnt let us leave until the lifts stopped for the day. My wife and I did a couple of 2hr lessons which was enough for us to feel comfortable on the blue runs. We had 40cm of snow while we were there and the runs were well groomed. The lift staff and instructors were very helpful, (with it being our first time). We tried 2 of the restaurants, which were great and the cafe at Big D was average but not bad. If you get there before 9am, close parking is pretty easy to find and if U get there later the bus that runs around to the different runs is very good and has lots of stops. We also met the amazing people at howling huskies and the kids had a dog sled ride. Most of their dogs are rescues which is cool. The only downside is the price. We got gifted accommodation from my parents as a Christmas present at Wyndham and borrowed ski clothes for the kids from friends, but with 4 days lift passes, 2 days of lessons, ski, boot and helmet hire, park entry and snow chain hire it was about $6000, so it may be a few years before we get back. Overall I think we have caught the bug and will definitely visit Hotham again.

Bellbird Dell Reserve - NSW

Nara Lee Beautiful park for a nature walk! Clearly well-maintained, and has branching paths throughout the park, as well as a playground on either end. Can get quite hilly, as per the area, so please keep this in mind. Love the boardwalks! Felt very immersive, especially as it wasn’t busy.

Terrara Park - NSW

Andrew G Going to this park for around 15 years. A lot has developed and improved overall so good to see the council investing on maintaining this park. Spacious, grass well maintained, facilities well cleaned and dogs off leash is comfortable. Plenty of wildlife makes it comfortable environment; birds, ducks (someone has walked their goat as well). My dog Scruffy of 15+ years passed away the other week and he was a regular at Terrara Park his whole life. He enjoyed the park every time cheers to all the friends he met at this very accomodating park. Keep up the good work Whitehorse council.

Masons Falls Observation Platform - NSW

Abi S Another stunning waterfall, set amidst a breathtaking drive and tranquil surroundings. While the waterfalls flow is seasonal, our summer visit still revealed a serene and picturesque scene, even if it wasnt at its peak.

Rail Viewing Platform - NSW

Xavier Andrews A great place to do train spotting and has excellent views of the surroundings of the viewing platform. It has great views of every Metro train and V/Line train, partial view of Melbourne CBD, V/Line trains through the flyover, West Gate Tunnel project construction and even North Melbourne station. Finding a car park was relatively easy as I got a park outside the viewing platform pretty much every time I go there. It is also easy to access and walk to North Melbourne station as its a few meters up. As a railway enthusiast, I had an excellent experience at this viewing platform when I went there a few times. Would highly recommend going there.

Lum Reserve - NSW

Suds Nice park with 2 ovals. You can take your dogs to this park lead free. Great on sunny afternoons where all the neighbours bring out their dogs for socialising. There is also a playground for the kids- small, but ok. Keeps the kids busy while setting up lunch on the BBQ. Bring a cricket bat and practice at the nets, or a footy to kick on the oval.

Wildwood Boardwalk - NSW

Valkiria Bezerra I had an incredible experience at Wildwood Boardwalk during a long holiday weekend, surrounded by great friends and family. This vibrant destination in Wildwood, New Jersey, perfectly blends entertainment, food, and beach fun. The boardwalk stretches over two miles along the Atlantic coast, featuring amusement parks, arcades, and shops that evoke a nostalgic seaside charm. We enjoyed thrilling rides at Morey’s Piers, filled with laughter and excitement under the summer sun. One of the highlights was attending an antique car show, where we marveled at the beautifully restored classic vehicles that added a unique touch to our visit. Food was another standout aspect, with delicious offerings like funnel cakes, saltwater taffy, and the iconic boardwalk fries. We couldn’t resist trying the famous Kohr Bros. frozen custard, perfect for cooling down. The lively atmosphere was enhanced by events like concerts and fireworks, making our time together even more special. While it got crowded at times, the friendly vibe made it easy to navigate. Overall, Wildwood Boardwalk was a fantastic getaway, offering memorable experiences filled with joy, delicious food, and cherished moments with loved ones. It truly captured the essence of summer fun!

Wildlife Wonders - NSW

Buddhika Karunasekara This is an amazing reserve. We really enjoyed the guided walk, and our guide was very knowledgeable. The team deserves credit for all the great conservation work they are doing, and it’s clear they are truly passionate about it. The staff are friendly, and the on-site café serves excellent food. I recommend trying the sausage roll with relish. The facilities are great, there is plenty of parking, and the gift shop offers unique items, including their own merchandise. It is definitely worth a visit.
