5 /5 Spiritual Scientist Amani: A gem in Avalon village.
After 1.5 years of traveling abroad, we finally returned to our old neighborhood in Avalon — and one of our first stops had to be Bistro Boulevard. This cozy little French gem had always been a favorite, and we were thrilled to find it still buzzing with charm, warmth, and most importantly — incredible food.
From the moment we stepped through the doors, it felt like nothing had changed — the ambience still evoked that rustic Parisian bistro feel, complete with candlelit tables, vintage posters, and shelves of well-loved wines. The owner Patrice greeted us with the usual friendliness and finesse, and the menu felt like a welcome-home hug.
We started with the prawn bisque and cheese souffle which were delicious. Then came the Bouillabaisse, and let me tell you — it was heavenly. Packed with tender fish, mussels, clams, prawns, and Morten bay bug in a rich broth, it was exactly what you want on a crisp winter evening: warming, soulful, and deeply satisfying.
My partner went for the classic Steak et Frites, topped with parisian herbed butter and served with a perfectly dressed green salad. The steak was juicy and full of flavor, cooked just as requested. And the fries? Utterly divine - light, crisp, and golden, the kind that make you reach for just one more (and then five more). Paired with a beautifully chosen red wine, it was French bistro fare at its finest.
We also nibbled on house-baked baguette with butter (always a good sign when the bread is this good) and a little amuse-bouche on toasted baguette that set the tone for the meal — thoughtful, elegant, and delicious.
Bistro Boulevard hasn’t just held onto its quality during our time away — it’s somehow gotten even better. It remains one of the most authentic French dining experiences on the Northern Beaches. Whether youre a local or just visiting Avalon, this is the kind of place that leaves your heart (and your belly) full.
