5 /5 B L: A hidden spot with magnificent view. The rock formation made you feel like you are on the back of an elephant with a birds- eye view, real amazing. Beautiful wide view captured Palm Beach view and Patonga Beach view. Great place, love it.
4 /5 Dom Thomson: Great for a short sunset bush walk. Unmarked path next to road to Patonga, small space to park car. Amazing view over Patonga !
5 /5 Shi Zhang: Thanks to other Google users advise, I dont have too much trouble to find this place. To use Google map for directions, just mark the destination on the closest point to the Elephant Rocks map icon on Patonga Dr, the GPS will take you to the pathway entrance where only two roadside parking spaces with uneven ground surface. The pathway is narrow but only short walk to the Rock. Little rock climbing needed at end but not difficult for me. There are few other walking trails to this place as well but this is the shortest way. If you are here for second sunset like me, try to remember your way back in dark.
I was there on Easter Sunday and felt so lucky to see a beautiful second sunset...
5 /5 DY _: Definitely not for the elderly or kids, but totally worth the efforts for those who can make it, both physically and mentally satisfied after reaching the top. Need hiking foot ware and be careful once reach the top of the rock as there is no fence or any form of protections. Highly recommend council to improve the condition of the trail where possible. Happy to sponsor a bit if need be. Highly recommended. Best hidden gem in the area.
4 /5 Mak Ellis: A great natural viewing point for Sunsets. The beauty of the area is the natural bush track that requires a certain degree of fitness to walk up the hill over rocks on a narrow bush trail where you see Some beautiful Sydney sandstone Native flora to view along the way.
Chathu Kularathna What a beautiful formation. Makes you appreciate the slow work of Mother Nature.
From the Information board -
Tessellated pavements are formed in sandstone over millions of years.
Sandstone, siltstone and claystone are buried deep (under pressure) within the earths crust. Through weathering and erosion, these rock layers are removed and the pressure on the rocks is released. This causes the sandstone to expand, resulting in cracking of the surface.
U L A very good hike, where you can find many rare insects and small flowers. It takes at least half an hour to reach the waterfall. You need to pay attention to safety on the way, it is challenging! But seeing the beautiful waterfall will be worth it in a moment, it is recommended to bring a bottle of water to replenish water.
Wahyu Setyaning I love visiting park hereee, so beautiful, best for kids, couple, parents and many more, free barbeque tools so you can bring your own meats, sauce, ingredients to have bbq there. There is also playground for kids.
Patrick G What a beautiful park!! Theres lots of walks, wide paths lovely grassed areas for picnics and ball games, a delightful walk down the river bank, very sad that its totally polluted!! And visit at high tide!! Very close to the train station.
Lots of shady areas under the pine & gum trees, a lovely cricket ground complete with picket fence, pavilion and grandstand and just over the road are some expansive ovals where they play touch footy!! An oasis in a crazy city full of unnecessary overbuilding of massive blocks of flats!@
