1 /5 cc: I’ve been to this salon a few times before and always had a good experience with the younger staff. However, during my last visit, I was seen by an older woman I hadn’t met before. The lady asked me if I was happy with the shape before continuing, I politely asked to adjust the shape of one nail, she responded rudely and aggressively saying “it is straight already” I asked if she could just straighten it as it was higher on one side, she replied saying “you don’t want straight nails then” she began filing the nail saying, “I remember who you are now, it makes sense,” even though we’d never met. She then tried to overcharge me as the month prior I had paid a cheaper price and when I asked if there had been an increase she loudly insisted that “it’s always been that price, everyone pays the same, you don’t get a different price,” making me feel embarrassed and uncomfortable. I won’t be returning after this experience.

1 /5 Marlene F. de Queiros: I always come here to get my nails done and have had good experiences with other professionals. Most are friendly and do a great job. Unfortunately, today I had the worst experience of my life getting my nails done. The older professional is extremely rude, doesn’t do what the client wants, and even hurt my finger when I politely asked her to fix the shape of my nail. If I ever come back here, she will never touch my fingers again… As you can see, I just left there and it looks like my nails havent been done in over a week. I asked for one colour and got a completely different one. Very upset.

4 /5 pri Raje: The price point is excellent. I got a regular pedicure done for $30. The staff was so nice. I put on my shoes a little too early and ruined the polish on my toe. The staff was kind enough to redo it. I wish their massage chairs worked, but for $30 I am not complaining. Will definitely be coming back.

3 /5 Stephanie L: 5 days in and the nail has snapped deeply throughout the middle, it was hurting as it reached my skin under my natural nail so I’ve attempted to hold it together with a pharmacy nail glue for the past two days. I returned today to get it fixed and they said they didn’t have time to fix one nail, I understand if it’s booked out however when the broken nail is on some level of pain and prone to further injury, I find that to be poor service given the quality of the work done was not at the fault of myself. I went to Professionail to get the one nail redone and it took about 15 mins. I returned home and when applying some hair products, a second nail has just now snapped off, this was mostly the acrylic part. 5-7 days in is pretty terrible especially when charging 25 extra for cat-eye polish, acrylic infill was what I originally got so when adding on extras I would expect the base to be of better quality and last. I’ve been going here for a while and over the years I would say the work of the staff is inconsistent however generally good, so after a few minor issues on other occasions, this particular one is quite disappointing and a waste of time. I will note however the artist I had on the day had attitude when discussing what I wanted, surely enough the work leading to the nails not lasting reflects in their behaviour.

1 /5 Antonia Urrutia: Ive been a customer at Focus Nails for over a year, and unfortunately, the experience has only gotten worse each time. The staff are consistently rude and dismissive, and they never actually listen to what you ask for. The products they use also seem incredibly old and poor quality. I know its a cheap salon — and I guess you get what you pay for — but the damage they’ve done to my natural nails just isn’t worth it. Every time I leave with painful “rings of fire” on my nail beds. They don’t use proper removal techniques; instead of soaking off the acrylic or powder with acetone, they just file and file until they completely ruin your nails. Even when I specifically ask them to be gentle, they ignore it. It will take months for my nails to recover from this damage. I would absolutely rather pay the extra $10–15 at another salon to avoid this kind of careless treatment. I won’t be coming back.
